Hair Education

1. Dry Hair vs. Dehydrated Hair
These words often get used interchangeably, but they are useful talking about different needs.
Dryness can relate to insufficient oils/lipids and the hairs overall condition.
Hydration/moisture refers to water in the hair fiber and how well your routine helps the hair maintain it.
The lesson: Adding heavier oils or butters doesn't necessarily solve hair that need better cleansing, conditioning, and moisture management.
Docktors Note: Oil can help reduce moisture loss and improve how it feels, but oil itself isn't water.
2. Why Buildup Matters
Sometimes you have to remove before you can add.
Styling products, oils, butters, environmental residue, and other deposits, can accumulate on the hair and scalp.
That's why Clarifying is Step 1 of your system.
But here is an important education point...
Clarifying isn't meant to be the end of the routine.
Your balance Shampoo follows it with a gentler, moisture focused cleanse, followed by conditioning and moisturizing.
3. Moisture vs. Oil
Moisture and Oil Are Not The Same Thing.
MOISTURE
Water based hydration helps hair to be flexible, soft, and manageable.
OILS/EMOLLIENTS
Can lubricate the hair, improve the feeling of it and help reduce moisture loss depending on the formulation.
So, putting more oil on hair that still feels dry, may not address the underlying issue. You need a moisturizer.
The Goal isn't to simply get your hair wet. It's creating a routine that help your hair stay moisturized, soft, hydrated, and manageable between wash days.
